Google unveils the ‘AI phone’ to take on Apple: Pixel handsets and new $129 Home speaker will include new smart assistant
Google has unveiled a new range of phones and its eagerly awaited Home speaker with a built in smart assistant to take on Apple and Amazon.
The search giant showed off a plethora of products from phones to TV dongles and even a new home router to boost wifi speeds – and said AI was key to all of them.
It says it hopes to use AI to create ‘a personal Google for each and every user’.
‘Today is about getting the assistant in the hands of our user.
‘We are bringing it into the context of the phone, and the home.’
Analysts say the handsets could hurt Samsung.
‘Pixel looks more and more the phone that will turn Android lovers into Google lovers – Samsung will hurt the most,’ said Carolina Milanesi of Creative Strategies.
