MICROSOFT’S Cortana personal assistant set to launch on Apple and Android devices and ‘can read and understand email.’
Watch out Siri, you could soon be getting some serious competition from Cortana.
Microsoft’s clever personal assistant looks set to make an appearance on Apple and Android devices later this year.
According to Reuters, Microsoft is working on an advanced version of Cortana, codenamed Einstein, which it hopes to launch as a standalone app on other platforms.
This new version of the software could be capable of a number of tasks not seen before.
Reports suggest Cortana will be able to read your emails and act on them as it sees fit.
For instance, if you receive a flight confirmation email, Cortana will automatically know when you’re taking the trip.
It’ll then set reminders, check the status of the flight and even tell you when to leave depending on local traffic conditions.
