BBC: We Fake It All The Time

SIR David Attenborough yesterday defended Frozen Planet’s fake polar bear footage – by comparing BBC nature documentaries to movies. His blunt remarks came as more footage from the series was exposed as a sham.

In a surprising justification for duping millions of viewers, the TV star argued that owning up to splicing archive film with real Arctic scenes during the programme would have spoiled the mood.

The Silence of the Mainstream Media Over Climategate Continues

Much of the bias of the mainstream media is not demonstrated by what they say but by what they omit. During the past four years there have plenty of examples of such media silence. Remember: the media ignored candidate Obama’s relationship with seedy figures such as terrorist Bill Ayers, Communist scholar/pedophile Frank Marshall Davis and hid the fact the future president’s first political office was won in part by earningthe support of the Marxist New Party.

Protecting Barack Obama is not the only reason for the mainstream media to omit elements of a story, but protecting the President’s progressive agenda is usually involved.

Be warned of Digital Deception

You must see this! Does this make you wonder how much footage from prominent world events is fake? How much fake news are we fed? Dictators, terrorists, riots, revolution beamed into our living rooms as part of on-going psychological warfare against the masses? Is this a conventional war of tanks and guns and bombs in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya or is it really all part of a sustained psychological war on the minds of every single person on the planet?

Government says PressTV and RussiaToday are the enemy

Very relevant since UK is going to shut down PressTV on SKY! The Broadcasting Board of Governors is a bipartisan board comprised of nine members. Eight are appointed by the U.S. President and confirmed by the Senate; the ninth is the Secretary of State who serves ex officio (Hilary Clinton).

"We can't allow ourselves to be out-communicated by our enemies," said Walter Isaacson, chairman of the Broadcasting Board of Governors. "You've got Russia Today, Iran's Press TV, Venezuela's TeleSUR, and of course, China is launching an international broadcasting 24-hour news channel with correspondents around the world [and has] reportedly set aside $6 -10 billion dollars -- we have to go to Capitol Hill with that number -- to expand their overseas media operations."

PressTV channel will be banned by OfCOM

Britain's Office of Communications, known as OfCom, has decided to take Press TV off air in the UK, citing administrative problems in Press TV's application as the reason. The British media regulator's decision is considered to be an abuse of the UK media law and the result of mounting pressure on the organization by certain members of the royal family and government.

As an alternative international media outlet, Press TV took pains to break the mainstream media's total silence on the violations of international law and human rights committed by the UK government at home and abroad.

Press TV interviews Chris Bambery, a political analyst in London, to discuss the motives behind this move.

Libya and Colombia, media hoaxes

by Leonardo Severo *

On the same Sunday, September 25, in which the planes of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) were approaching the 24,000 "air sortie operations" against Libya, including 8,941 strike missions to "protect civilians", the international media agencies reinforced the bombardment.

Pouring out nothing but misinformation, the controlled journalism sought to guide and inoculate the virus of apathy and alienation in mass while turning the victim into the culprit, the genocidal action as a charity, the invader pretending to be a liberator.

In order to serve the monopolies of money, word weapons were put to use for the piece of "news" that had to be bombastic and shocking to impose on everyone: "Bodies of 1,270 found in a mass grave in Libya."

"The discovery was only possible because an mystical supporter of the Muammar Gaddafi government was detained hours before he pointed out the exact location. The "mass grave" is near the Abu Saleen prison. The bodies found in the pit could belong to the prisoners alleged to have been massacred by the Gaddafi government in 1996," the Spanish agency EFE said in a statement, quickly mimicked without the minimum criteria and with the maximum fuss.

An Example of How The Government Pushes Propaganda Via the Mainstream Media

August 1th 2011

This past weekend, news outlets across the world have turned their lenses to focus on the horrific events that took place in Norway on Friday, July 22. The picture that emerges is of a lone gunman opening fire at a youth camp (latest figures indicate anywhere between 76 and 93 deaths), following a bomb explosion that claimed at least 8 lives in the nation's capital of Oslo earlier that day.

Already we see mainstream media indiscriminately putting its spin of choice on this tragic event and, not surprising, buzzwords being tossed around casually without regard for truth or fact include everything from "Muslim terrorists" to the omnipresent propagandistic "war on terror".

Soros, who spent$27 million trying to defeat President Bushin 2004, has ties to more than 30 mainstream news outlets – including The New York Times, Washington Post, the Associated Press, NBC and ABC.

Prominent journalists like ABC’sChristiane Amanpour and former Washington Post editor and now Vice President Len Downie serve on boards of operations that take Soros cash. This despite the Society of Professional Journalists' ethical code stating: “avoid all conflicts real or perceived.”

US orders media silence over Bahrain

President of Bahrain's Center for Human Rights Nabeel Rajab says the US media have been ordered not to cover news on the government's brutal crackdown on Bahraini people.

Reports from the Center's colleagues in the United States say “In the US some news agencies and TV stations were asked not to report on Bahrain and not to embarrass President Barack Obama's administration,” Rajab told Press TV.
He went on to say that the US and the Western governments have chosen to keep silent over ongoing atrocities in Bahrain due to their support for the country's authoritarian regime.

According to unconfirmed reports, over 420 people have been arrested during ongoing protests in the kingdom, Rajab pointed out.
The Bahraini protesters continue to demand the ouster of the 200-year-old-plus monarchy as well as constitutional reforms.
At least 25 people have been killed and about 1,000 others injured during the government-sanctioned crackdowns on peaceful demonstrators.

The first inkling that the disciples of George Soros and his Media Matters were planning a frontal assault on the First Amendment came early last week when the Washington Post published an article describing liberals attending a boot camp to train them to do battle with battle Fox News. The article describes Media Matters’ obsession with training “camera-ready liberals” to counter what it perceives as the pervasive evil of Roger Ailes, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and the rest over at Rupert Murdoch’s network.A few days later, Ben Smith, writing for Politico, sketched out what David Brock, a former staff writer for The American Spectator – a monthly funded in part by the media mogul and CIA operative Richard Mellon Scaife – had in mind for Fox and other media operations, in particular alternative media operations.

Brock told Smith what he has in mind – nothing short of an all-out jihad against the opposition. “Brock listed the fronts on which Media Matters — which he said is operating on a $10 million-plus annual budget — is working to chip away at Fox and its parent company, News Corp. They include its bread-and-butter distribution of embarrassing clips and attempts to rebut Fox points, as well as a series of under-the-radar tactics,” writes Smith.

An Empire of Lies: The CIA and the Western Media

Jonathan Cook
Another World is Possible

Last week the Guardian, Britain’s main liberal newspaper, ran an exclusive report on the belated confessions of an Iraqi exile, Rafeed al-Janabi, codenamed “Curveball” by the CIA. Eight years ago, Janabi played a key behind-the-scenes role — if an inadvertent one — in making possible the US invasion of Iraq. His testimony bolstered claims by the Bush administration that Iraq’s president, Saddam Hussein, had developed an advanced programme producing weapons of mass destruction.

Curveball’s account included the details of mobile biological weapons trucks presented by Colin Powell, the US Secretary of State, to the United Nations in early 2003. Powell’s apparently compelling case on WMD was used to justify the US attack on Iraq a few weeks later.

Eight years on, Curveball revealed to the Guardian that he had fabricated the story of Saddam’s WMD back in 2000, shortly after his arrival in Germany seeking asylum. He told the paper he had lied to German intelligence in the hope his testimony might help topple Saddam, though it seems more likely he simply wanted to ensure his asylum case was taken more seriously.

The US military is developing software that will let it secretly manipulate social media sites by using fake online personas to influence internet conversations and spread pro-American propaganda.

A Californian corporation has been awarded a contract with United States Central Command (Centcom), which oversees US armed operations in the Middle East and Central Asia, to develop what is described as an "online persona management service" that will allow one US serviceman or woman to control up to 10 separate identities based all over the world.

The project has been likened by web experts to China's attempts to control and restrict free speech on the internet. Critics are likely to complain that it will allow the US military to create a false consensus in online conversations, crowd out unwelcome opinions and smother commentaries or reports that do not correspond with its own objectives.

The discovery that the US military is developing false online personalities – known to users of social media as "sock puppets" – could also encourage other governments, private companies and non-government organisations to do the same.

Churnalism or news? How PRs have taken over the media

A new website promises to shine a spotlight on "churnalism" by exposing the extent to which news articles have been directly copied from press releases.

The website, churnalism.com, created by charity the Media Standards Trust, allows readers to paste press releases into a "churn engine". It then compares the text with a constantly updated database of more than 3m articles. The results, which give articles a "churn rating", show the percentage of any given article that has been reproduced from publicity material.

The Guardian was given exclusive access to churnalism.com prior to launch. It revealed how all media organisations are at times simply republishing, verbatim, material sent to them by marketing companies and campaign groups.

Chilean miners rescue was manipulated for the media

In a slick media operation the Chilean authorities covered up the fact that the rescue shaft had been destabilised and a rockfall had cut a cable between the surface and the chamber 2,000 feet underground.

The live television feed was at one point interrupted and video clips from earlier on in the rescue recycled to allow emergency repairs to be carried out unseen during the 22 hour operation to haul the 33 men up from the deep, which began on October 12.

The revelation comes in a book published this week entitled "Los 33" – which charts the men's entombment in the San Jose gold and copper mine deep below the Atacama Desert in northern Chile.

"A billion viewers around the world were ... tricked," according to Jonathan Franklin, the author of the book who gained special access to the rescue operation while most news media were excluded.

"They never realised that the image of perfection being broadcast was a rerun to cover up a dramatic chapter far too risky for the Chilean government to allow the world to see."

Public Enemy No. 1 The Main Stream Media

No conspiracies, huh? And no media collaboration with these conspiracies either, huh? When I tried to point out the unity of government and media that continuously partner to propagandize illegal and immoral policies guaranteed to destroy America's founding concept of maximum individual human freedom, a so-called "libertarian" website put me down. I wasted no time in relegating that highly articulate and totally ignorant moron and "libertarian" gatekeeper and his website to the lowest level of news and opinion writing. Fortunately for the mainstream libertarian Internet philosophers, this is a lightly trafficked and not very popular site.

"The media is the enemy!" This is the title of the introductory narrative of American Free Press.net. AFP offers: "In the old Soviet Union, the government controlled the media. Not a word of substance could be published without prior approval from the Bolshevik commissars. Today, in the United States, the situation is starkly similar. But most Americans don't even know it.

SILENCING THE MEDIA IN AMERICA

In an earlier article, I suggested several alternative media sources and writers since the mainstream media makes free speech a dream that was left behind.

Instead of celebrating journalistic integrity, the media–controlled by Zionists in America–refuses to condone any criticism of Israel.

When Helen Thomas, diva of the White House press corps was asked by a rabbi if she had any comment about Israel, she replied honestly, “Tell them to get the hell out of Palestine.”

She paid dearly for being forthright, saying that the Palestinians are “occupied” and that the Jews should “Go home” — to Germany, Poland, America and “everywhere else”.

In a later interview with radio host Danny Schechter, Helen revealed that for fifty years “she censored herself as a reporter.”

Think about how many otherwise honest, knowledgeable yet restrained reporters and TV anchors have worn the same albatross around their necks.

Widely respected MSNBC commentators like Keith Olbermann, Rachael Maddow and Ed Schultz are brilliant and informed. They can’t possibly have missed the plight of the Palestinians.

Like Helen Thomas they have had to censor themselves.  Anyone listening to these commentators’ analyses of major issues would know that they could not possibly be ignorant of the truth.

In the middle of Europe, a democracy introduces press censorship

As the world's attention focuses on WikiLeaks and the debate it has spawned about the extent of press freedom in the information age, one European country has taken a decisive step away from that freedom.

Hungary's recently elected right-wing government has introduced a law demanding -- under threat of fines and even shut-down -- that news sources be "fair and balanced," to borrow a phrase from a US news network. The move has critics fearing that it could lead to a silencing of critical media outlets.

Under the new Law on Media and the Freedom of Press, national TV channels whose news coverage is found to be "unbalanced or offensive to human dignity or common morals" could be fined the equivalent of almost $1 million, reports the New York Times, while daily newspaper and Internet news sites could face fines of up to $120,000. Weeklies and magazines could see fines of almost $50,000.

Study Confirms That Fox News Makes You Stupid

A new survey of American voters shows that Fox News viewers are significantly more misinformed than consumers of news from other sources.
Yet another study has been released proving that watching Fox News is detrimental to your intelligence. World Public Opinion, a project managed by the Program on International Policy Attitudes at the University of Maryland, conducted a survey of American voters that shows that Fox News viewers are significantly more misinformed than consumers of news from other sources. What’s more, the study shows that greater exposure to Fox News increases misinformation.
So the more you watch, the less you know. Or to be precise, the more you think you know that is actually false. This study corroborates a previous PIPA study that focused on the Iraq war with similar results. And there was an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll that demonstrated the break with reality on the part of Fox viewers with regard to health care. The body of evidence that Fox News is nothing but a propaganda machine dedicated to lies is growing by the day.

Meet the FCC commissioner who wants to control the news

In 1949, the Federal Communications Commission created a rule requiring broadcasters to cover issues that the government deemed important, and to do so in a way that the government found “honest, equitable and balanced.” If a broadcaster did not agree to abide by this rule, the FCC reserved the right to revoke the station’s broadcasting license. This rule was called the Fairness Doctrine. The FCC abandoned it in 1987. FCC Commissioner Michael Copps, a socially conservative Democrat appointed to the FCC in 2001, would like to bring it back.

Copps has a long history of advocating for government control of media, dating to the beginning of his tenure. But it wasn’t until last week, after Copps spoke to the BBC and an audience at Columbia University, that Congress decided to look into the commissioner’s philosophy against private media companies.

Today the realms of politics, commercial advertising, and news and entertainment media are surrounded by all methods of persuasion-techniques to make people believe either on conscious or unconscious levels.

This fact, shall not come as a surprise that ‘mind control’ is a conspiracy theory orchestrated concept but rather a well-researched fact amongst the social psychologists. However, the phenomenon of mind control is processed by a number of dynamic systematic functions under the category of Persuasion techniques.

The phenomenon of mind control is not a lay notion with simple and plain connotations. It operates at the heart of “attitude” of an individual or a group. In social psychology, “attitude” is the nucleus force that influences our behavior (towards something) and in order for someone to influence our behavior, they shall have the knowledge and the ability to influence our attitude and bring a change in it. This change could be well achieved by the application of diverse range of persuasion techniques.

Back in 1983, approximately 50 corporations controlled the vast majority of all news media in the United States.  Today, ownership of the news media has been concentrated in the hands of just six incredibly powerful media corporations.  These corporate behemoths control most of what we watch, hear and read every single day.  They own television networks, cable channels, movie studios, newspapers, magazines, publishing houses, music labels and even many of our favorite websites. Sadly, most Americans don't even stop to think about who is feeding them the endless hours of news and entertainment that they constantly ingest.  Most Americans don't really seem to care about who owns the media.

The BBC is on Murdoch’s side

John Pilger

Britain is said to be approaching its Berlusconi moment. That is to say, if Rupert Murdoch wins control of Sky, he will command half the television and newspaper market and threaten what is known as public service broadcasting. Although the alarm is ringing, it is unlikely that any government will stop him while his court is packed with politicians of all parties.

The problem with this and other Murdoch scares is that, while one cannot doubt their gravity, they deflect from an unrecognised and more insidious threat. For all his power, Murdoch's media are not respectable. Take the current colonial wars. In the United States, Murdoch's Fox Television is almost cartoon-like in its warmongering. It is the august New York Times, "the greatest newspaper in the world", and others such as the once-celebrated Washington Post, that have given respectability to the lies and moral contortions of the "war on terror", now recast as "perpetual war".

For nearly two years, Fox News knew its "political analyst" Angela McGlowan would run for office in 2010. After all, she said so on their airwaves.

"That's all right, sweetie, that's my district, and I'm going there soon to beat your Democrat colleague, honey. I'm going soon. 2010 is my year. Announcing it right here," McGlowan said to fellow contributor Bob Beckel on the May 14, 2008, edition of America's Election Headquarters.

Despite her stated intentions, McGlowan continued to be employed by Fox News until her contract expired in February 2010 and she "officially" announced her congressional candidacy in Mississippi. Between May 2008 and February 2010, McGlowan made dozens of appearances on Fox Business and Fox News, according to a Nexis search. During that time, she frequently spoke like she was already a candidate for office. In a January 15 appearance on Fox Business' Cavuto, McGlowan said she "had four health care town hall meetings in the state of Mississippi" and "a lot of people don't want this health care bill. They want health care reform but they want the right type of reform."

FOX won a ‘bidding war’ for the film, which grew out of a parody trailer spliced into the 70s-cult throwback “Grindhouse,” a double-header release featuring works by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino, both notable for their excessive and stylistic violence

Murdoch cedes control of Chinese TV channels

Rupert Murdoch has sold a majority stake in three of his Chinese TV channels to a private equity fund backed by the government in Beijing.

The decision marks a shift in News Corporation's strategy in the country and fuelled speculation yesterday that the media mogul could retreat from China, where his company has struggled to break through despite a long-standing commitment to the market.

News Corp announced yesterday that it had agreed to sell a controlling stake in the television assets to China Media Capital (CMC), the country's first buyout fund specifically focused on the media industry. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

News Corp said it would retain "a significant stake" in the business but the company would not reveal how much. It added: "Both partners aim to develop the business by exploring new growth opportunities."

Robots are after my job. Researchers at the Intelligent Systems Informatics Lab (ISI) at Tokyo University have developed a journalist robot that can autonomously explore its environment and report what it finds. The robot detects changes in its surroundings, decides if they are relevant, and then takes pictures with its on board camera. It can query nearby people for information, and it uses internet searches to further round out its understanding. If something appears newsworthy, the robot will even write a short article and publish it to the web. Charlie Catlett, from Argonne National Labs, seemed impressed with the bot, and it made a splash at the most recent meeting of the Information Processing Society of Japan. By combining real world and internet research, the journalist robot is taking a step beyond other automated systems. Give it enough time, and robots like these could become a valued asset for news feeds everywhere.

Even now this is attained by us inasmuch as all news items are received by a few agencies whose offices are entirely ours and will give publicity only to what we dictate to them,” the Protocols continue.

According to the Protocols, the way in which the news is covered — which items are emphasized and which are played down — serve the interests of the media-masters, the Jews, and not the interests of the “Goyim.”

The Media is the Matrix

We can only know what we are exposed to, hear, see, or are taught. Some of it may not be complete and accurate. If we have bad teachers, information sources, or dishonest experiences, we don't learn all we need to learn. If we are lied to, it is worse. We are hindered in our ability to judge what is real and true. We can not make valid conclusions, as we spoke about in our last report. That's why we have to spend the effort to use critical thinking and check things out for ourselves.

Corporate Media Ownership

The Project Censored team researched the board members of 10 major media organizations from newspaper to television to radio. Of these ten organizations, we found there are 118 people who sit on 288 different American and international corporate boards proving a close on-going interlock between big media and corporate America. We found media directors who also were former Senators or Representatives in the House such as Sam Nunn (Disney) and William Cohen (Viacom). Board members served at the FCC such as William Kennard (New York Times) and Dennis FitzSimmons (Tribune Company) showing revolving door relationships with big media and U.S. government officials.

Former National Security Agency analyst Russell Tice, who helped expose the NSA's warrantless wiretapping in December 2005, has now come forward with even more startling allegations. Tice told MSNBC's Keith Olbermann on Wednesday that the programs that spied on Americans were not only much broader than previously acknowledged but specifically targeted journalists.
"The National Security Agency had access to all Americans' communications -- faxes, phone calls, and their computer communications," Tice claimed. "It didn't matter whether you were in Kansas, in the middle of the country, and you never made foreign communications at all. They monitored all communications."

AND GLOBAL TV NOW ON THE AGENDA

President Obama’s pick for Treasury Secretary, Timothy Geithner, is being urged to lay the foundation for “global governance” by considering “international taxation” measures to loot more money from U.S. taxpayers.

The recommendation is included in the report, “The Global Agenda 2009,” which is being considered by the World Economic Forum (WEF), meeting in Davos, Switzerland, January 28 - February 1. The WEF is not an official government group but does include dozens of government, corporate and labor leaders at its annual meetings. Media companies such as News Corporation (parent of Fox News, the Fox Business Network, and the Wall Street Journal), CNBC, and Forbes are official sponsors of the WEF meeting. News Corporation is listed as one of about 100 “strategic partners” of the World Economic Forum.

“Look for live coverage on CNBC, all day every day,” reports CNBC “Squawk Box” co-anchor Becky Quick. “We kick things off at 6 a.m. Eastern time Wednesday on Squawk, with serious interviews from the headliners.” Her report, however, fails to disclose that CNBC is an “industry partner” of the World Economic Forum this week.

CNBC is a subsidiary of General Electric, whose GE Capital is receiving a $139-billion taxpayer-financed loan guarantee as part of the Wall Street bailout. CNBC’s sister networks are NBC and MSNBC.
