MI5 told to make July 7 files public
 MI5 officers will have to give evidence to the 7 July inquests publicly, after the coroner rejected a plea from the Home Secretary to hold closed hearings.
Theresa May had asked that evidence from members of the security services, and from intelligence documents, be heard in private, citing a threat to national security if the material were to be made public.
But yesterday Lady Justice Hallett refused the request, saying she had no power to stop family members of the 52 people who died in the London bombings in 2005 attending the inquests of their loved ones. The Home Office will probably appeal against the decision
Israeli rabbi: Honey-pot sex is kosher for female Mossad agents
 An Israeli rabbi has given his blessing to female agents of Israel's foreign secret service, Mossad, who may be required to have sex with the enemy in so-called "honey-pot" missions against terrorists.
Rabbi Ari Shvat's ruling appeared in a study, "Illicit sex for the sake of national security," published by the Tzomet Institute, which studies the interface between religion and modernity. But Schvat wrote that honey-pot missions are not just a thing of modern-day espionage - such as the late 1980s capture of Mordechai Vanunu, the Israeli nuclear technician who revealed details of Israel's nuclear program, or the January 2010 assassination of terroris Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai. Both cases reportedly involved a Mossad female lure.

In the latest of Latin American coup attempts, thousands of national police took to the streets yesterday in a failed attempt to overthrow Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa over a new law they felt jeopardized their benefits. RT contributor Wayne Madsen argued that the US, via the CIA and other agencies, is behind the coups in Latin America and that it is visible through the continually used CIA playbook. Mossad issued death threats
 DUBAI - DUBAI'S police chief said he has received death threats from Israel's spy agency Mossad linked to his role in uncovering details of the assassination of a senior Hamas leader, a report said on Thursday.
The Arabic-language Al-Ittihad daily quoted Dahi Khalfan as saying he had 'received two death threats based on the case of Hamas militant' Mahmud al-Mabhuh's assassination in a Dubai hotel on Jan 20. The police chief accused Mossad of being behind both threats, the state-owned paper added.
The first threat came days after Khalfan released pictures of the suspected killers and at the same time accused Mossad of involvement in the murder. 'Protect your back if you were capable of leaving your tongue loose,' a message said, according to the paper.

A diary entry belonging to a senior member of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) has revealed that during the First World War it was discovered that the bodily fluid could act as an effective invisible ink.
In June 1915, Walter Kirke, deputy head of military intelligence at GHQ France, wrote in his diary that Mansfield Cumming, the first chief (or C) of the SIS was "making enquiries for invisible inks at the London University".

Murdered British spy: a mathematical 'genius'
Dylan Parry, 34, said the GCHQ codes and cyphers expert was an isolated child fascinated by mathematics and computers. Mr Parry, a volunteer at Westminster Cathedral, went to school with Mr Williams at Bodedern high school in Anglesey, North Wales.

Washington Post exposes US 'intelligence flaws'
The US secret intelligence gathering systems have grown so much since 9/11 that no-one knows their exact cost, nor size, the Washington Post reports.
The newspaper says the system is now so massive and unwieldy that it is impossible to determine its effectiveness in keeping the US safe.
The report, Top Secret America, follows a two-year investigation by the paper.

Google is a key intelligence asset. It has supplied the core search technology for Intellipedia, a highly-secured online CIA system and has shared a close relationship with both the CIA, NSA, and government national security officials.
100s Of FBI, DEA, ICE Agents Hit By Ponzi Scheme
Some 300 retired and current federal agents -- representing the FBI, the Drug Enforcement Administration and Immigration and Customs Enforcement -- collectively invested tens of millions of dollars of retirement money in what turned out to be a Ponzi scheme allegedly run by a Florida man who committed suicide last month, an attorney in the case said.
The FBI and the Securities and Exchange Commission are now investigating and trying to recover funds.

MI6 boss blames Russia for Iraq war
John Sawers made the statement at public hearings in London aimed at establishing the circumstances in which the war started.Sawers, who at that time held an advisor’s position in the Prime Minister’s office, was quoted as saying by the BBC that Russia prevented the introduction of so-called “smart sanctions” against Iraq in 2001. He went on to say that some high-placed Russian officials had told him back then that the smart sanctions program harmed the economic interests of certain Russian companies. The official reason given by the Russian delegation was that the sanctions plan was too broad and complicated.

“Mossad loves killing people in bedrooms” – author
There is no doubt that the Hamas leader’s murder in Dubai hotel is a Mossad job. Moreover, its agents have deliberately showed their faces to CCTV cameras, said espionage expert and author Gordon Thomas.
“It fits all the patterns they have done before,” he said. “First, it was in a bedroom. They love killing people in bedrooms.”
According to Thomas, the probable scenario which unfolded could be the following: An attractive woman from the squad was used as a pickup, in the bedroom the woman would have either injected the man or left the door open so that the other killers could enter.
”There were at least four in the team of the actual execution. There will be a backup driver to get them our fast, she would be a seductress and the two who would do the killing,” Thomas added.
He went on to add that the agents could have deliberately exposed themselves to the CCTV cameras in the hotel.
”I think it is a deliberate attempt to say ‘Don’t mess with us’,” Thomas said. “Other examples of that: in the past when they wanted someone to be executed, they sent a wreath to his family beforehand, they sent a coffin once, an empty coffin and they have also published in Arab newspapers in memoriam notices.”

FBI Releases Files Kept in Room Filled with Secrets
After concealing highly-secretive investigations for more than 60 years, the FBI has released a small volume of documents from its little known “special file room” in Washington, DC. The room, created by former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, was first established in 1948 and has held files containing information on threats to the nation…as well as domestic spying on Americans.
The confidential documents include information about American radar designed to spy on the Soviet military and evacuation plans for Washington in case of attack. Other records cover potential threats to smuggle nuclear weapons into the U.S.
Some files have details about spying on U.S. allies during the Cold War, including Greece, Panama, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Sweden. The FBI also spied on gay rights groups in the 1950s and 1960s,
Other files refer to Adlai Stevenson, Frank Sinatra, Jimmy Hoffa, Adolph Coors, the assassination of Robert Kennedy, the still-unexplained crash of a Pan Am flight on November 8, 1957, “Proposed Plan for Intelligence Coverage in Alaska in the Event of an Invasion,” and “Sex Perverts in the Gov’t.”
The secret file room is still in use today. Only a small portion of its records have been revealed, thanks to an anonymous researcher who turned over hundreds of documents to the Boston Globe. They are now available online at GovernmentAttic.org.

Whistleblowers on US ‘massacre’ fear CIA stalkers
Activists behind a website dedicated to revealing secret documents have complained of harassment by police and intelligence services as they prepare to release a video showing an American attack in which 97 civilians were killed in Afghanistan.
Julian Assange, one of the founders of Wikileaks, has claimed that a restaurant where the group met in Reykjavic, the capital of Iceland, came under surveillance in March and one of the group’s volunteers was detained for 21 hours by police.
Assange, an Australian, says he was followed on a flight from Reykjavik to Copenhagen by two American agents. The group has riled governments by publishing documents leaked by whistleblowers.
Last week it released the cockpit recording from an American Apache helicopter as it killed Iraqi civilians, including a Reuters photographer, in Baghdad in 2007

Israeli Spy Under the Guise of a Journalist
In the hours after the midnight on last Sunday, the Egyptian authorities arrested an Israeli at the border of Rafah together with members of the a drug gang which smuggles Africans into Israel. Yotam Feldman, who is suspected of being an Israeli spy, was arrested while trying to cross into Israel with a number of illegal African migrants. He had no identification papers.
During the questioning by the Egyptian police, he claimed to be a journalist and that he was preparing a report about the smuggling of Africans into Israel
Israeli government to be formally accused over ‘Mossad’ assassination
Speculation has been growing that a senior Israeli diplomat would be expelled as a mark of the “anger” within the Government that British passport holders had been put at risk as a result of the operation.
A ministerial statement to be made to Parliament will formally name the Israeli security services as responsible for the cloning of up to 15 British passports, which were copied after being taken away by airport officials.
The statement will say that it proved impossible to confirm definitively whether Mossad, the feared Israeli secret intelligence service, was responsible for the operation, with suspicion also resting on the Military Intelligence Directorate.
But the probe had determined for certain that the passports were cloned when British citizens passed through airports on their way into Israel, with officials taking them away for “checks” which lasted around 20 minutes.

UK has 5,700 "secret agents"
It is the first time that the number of foreign intelligence gathering officers employed by MI6, also known as the Secret Intelligence Service, has been published.
The figure was disclosed yesterday in the annual report of the parliamentary Intelligence and Security Committee.
The ISC had previously disclosed the number of domestic security service officers who work for MI5, known as “spooks” - now around 3,500 - but had never done so for spies.
MI6 has launched a new recruitment drive aimed, in part, at former City bankers, with experience of foreign countries and language skills.
According to the ISC’s report, there are now 2,252 MI6 officers and it aims to increase that to 2,527 this year.
The report also revealed there were 5,296 staff employed at the GCHQ monitoring station in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, where they intercept telephone, email and internet communications. The report said the combined budget for MI5, MI6 and GCHQ was now Ł2.2bn.

Spying for Dollars: Military Contractors and Security Firms Reap Huge Profits
The Obama administration is seeking to increase the obscenely bloated U.S. Defense Department budget to a whopping $708 billion for fiscal year 2011, 3.4% above 2010's record level, The Wall Street Journal reported.
While the overall budget deficit will balloon to a staggering $1.6 trillion in 2011, the result of massive tax cuts for the rich, declining revenues, a by-product of capitalism's economic meltdown, imperial adventures abroad and general corporate malfeasance (the old tax-dodge grift), the administration plans to cut $250 billion over three years from non-military "discretionary spending" on domestic social programs.
However, as the World Socialist Web Site points out: "President Barack Obama has done nothing to reverse decades of wage stagnation, mounting poverty, and attacks on the social welfare system. On the contrary, following George W. Bush, he has seized on the crisis to redistribute wealth to a tiny financial elite through the ongoing bailout of the finance industry."
It is no small irony that despite stark budget figures and an even bleaker future for the American working class, Washington Technology reported January 28 that the "29 largest publicly traded defense contractors increased their use of offshore subsidiaries by 26 percent from 2003 to 2008."
Britain kicks out Mossad boss
We’ll get the outcome of the Government’s inquiry into the cloned British passports affair later today. It will find that the passports of 15 British-Israeli citizens were taken away at passport control and in the 20 minutes they were held they were cloned and then used to equip the hit squad that whacked the Hamas leader in Dubai earlier this year. Ron Prosor, Israel’s affable ambassador, was summoned in yesterday to be told the outcome. It’s a slap on the wrist in diplomatic terms: we don’t mind the cloning so much as the fact they were ours. A report says the Canadian diplomat praised for sheltering Americans during the Iranian Revolution was a CIA spy.
The Globe and Mail quotes former ambassador Ken Taylor as telling the newspaper that he was made ``de facto CIA station chief'' in a secret deal between president Jimmy Carter and prime minister Joe Clark.
The report says the move followed the seizure of the U.S. Embassy by Iranian students Nov. 4, 1979, when 63 Americans, including the four-member Central Intelligence Agency contingent, were taken hostage.
The Globe says Taylor, who was ambassador to Iran from 1977 to 1980, actively spied for the Americans and helped them plan an armed incursion into the country.
It says details of Taylor's role are revealed in a new book being released today, ``Our Man in Tehran,'' by Trent University historian Robert Wright.

Indian Intelligence: Mumbai terror mastermind is a US double agent
An American man charged with plotting the attacks on Mumbai was a double agent for both the United States and al-Qaeda terror group Lashkar e Taiba, Indian officials have claimed.
David Headley, a Pakistan-born American national arrested in Chicago in October, is alleged to have carried out reconnaissance missions in the run-up to the Mumbai attacks, in which 166 people were killed.
He is also believed to have been present in the terrorists' "control room" in Pakistan where their handlers directed the killing spree over an open telephone line

Italian lawyers seek jail for CIA agents
Public prosecutors in Italy have urged a court in Milan to jail 26 Americans for the kidnapping of a terrorism suspect in a 2003 CIA operation.
The Italian lawyers are seeking sentences of between 10 and 13 years for the US agents. They also want 13 years for the former head of Italy’s secret service, Nicolo Pollari.

CIA agents guilty of Italy kidnap
An Italian judge has convicted 23 Americans - all but one of them CIA agents - and two Italian secret agents for the 2003 kidnap of a Muslim cleric.
The agents were accused of abducting Hassan Mustafa Osama Nasr, known as Abu Omar, from Milan and sending him to Egypt, where he was allegedly tortured.

Italian lawyers seek jail for CIA agents
Public prosecutors in Italy have urged a court in Milan to jail 26 Americans for the kidnapping of a terrorism suspect in a 2003 CIA operation.
The Italian lawyers are seeking sentences of between 10 and 13 years for the US agents. They also want 13 years for the former head of Italy’s secret service, Nicolo Pollari.

CIA threats to detainees' families exposed
An internal CIA report published yesterday reveals a host of incidents in which its interrogators went far beyond acceptable bounds, including threatening an al-Qaida leader that his children would be killed and hinting to another suspect that his mother would be raped in front of him.
The CIA document, which the agency fought for years to keep secret, was released after a court action by a civil rights group. It described interrogation techniques that were "unauthorised, improvised, inhumane and undocumented".

The documents, to be discussed at a hearing this week, suggest that the UK authorities did everything they could to accede to the CIA's wishes while at the same time trying to conceal the fact they were talking to the agency.

FBI Busts Alleged Anti-Government Group
Four people arrested in a raid involving tax evasion and weapons charges appeared in federal court Friday afternoon. Authoritites say the men are suspected of being leaders of an anti-government movement called Soverign Movement.
The FBI tells Eyewitness News that this raid goes beyond just Las Vegas. Federal agents raided seven different locations in Nevada, Idaho and also Arizona and this was the result of a three-year investigation.
The scene in a neighborhood near Charleston and Cimarron was chaotic Thursday morning as federal agents from the FBi and ATF targeted a home on Gunther Circle and began removing items, including guns.
Neighbors who witnessed the scene say they saw agents pull as many as 40 weapons from the home. The bomb squad was also called to the neighborhood and neighbors say items were loaded into a cylinder and taken away.

According to current and former government officials, the agency spent money on planning and possibly some training. It was acting on a 2001 presidential legal pronouncement, known as a finding, which authorized the CIA to pursue such efforts. The initiative hadn't become fully operational at the time Mr. Panetta ended it.
Latest CIA Scandal Puts Focus on How Agency Polices Self
As a novice CIA case officer in the Middle East, Andrew Warren quickly learned the value of sex in recruiting spies. Colleagues say that he made an early habit of taking informants to strip clubs, and that he later began arranging out-of-town visits to brothels for his best recruits. Often Warren would travel with them, according to two colleagues who worked with him for years.
His methods earned him promotions and notoriety over a lengthy career, until Warren, 41, became ensnared in a sex scandal. Two Algerian women have accused the Virginia native of drugging and sexually assaulting them, and, in one instance, videotaping the encounter.
Six weeks after the allegations came to light, Warren has been formally notified by CIA Director Leon E.
